The Kyle Pease Foundation’s Journey to Kona 2024

In the world of sports, achieving greatness is often measured by endurance, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of one’s dreams. Few stories exemplify these qualities more than that of Kyle and Brent Pease, whose journey to the IRONMAN World Championship in 2018 made history and left an indelible mark on the sports world. As we look ahead to Kona 2024, it’s time to celebrate their remarkable achievements and their ongoing mission of inclusivity through sports.

Making History in Kona 2018

On October 13, 2018, during the 40th Anniversary of the IRONMAN World Championship, Kyle and Brent Pease etched their names into the annals of sporting history. Together, they became the first push-assisted team of brothers to conquer the grueling course, crossing the finish line as the second duo ever to complete this iconic race. Their time of 14 hours and 29 minutes not only fulfilled a lifelong dream but also redefined the essence of inclusivity in the IRONMAN community and beyond.

Facing off against 2,400 of the world’s most formidable athletes, the Pease brothers exhibited exceptional determination and resilience. They conquered the 2.4-mile swim in 1:07:33, endured an 112-mile bike ride in 8:22:03, and triumphantly finished the 26.2-mile run in 4:45:54. Their victory over Kona’s legendary weather conditions marked an astonishing improvement of 35 minutes compared to their previous race time on one of the sport’s most challenging courses.

Returning to Kona with a Purpose

Now, with the excitement building for Kona 2024, the Kyle Pease Foundation (KPF) sets its sights on an even more profound goal. Their journey back to the big island carries a powerful mission—to foster inclusivity and create sustainable employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities long after the finish line is crossed.

In 2024, the foundation aims to raise an impressive $750,000 to fuel and expand the KPF Inclusive Employment program. These funds will enable KPF to hire a minimum of two additional individuals with disabilities, with the potential for more hires, thereby advancing the current program’s impact. Moreover, they plan to establish an employer-based savings vehicle that will provide long-term financial security for employees with disabilities. This fund’s vision is to ensure sustainability for employees over a period of three years, contributing to their financial well-being and future growth.

A Journey Beyond Limits

The Kyle Pease Foundation’s journey to Kona 2024 is more than a race; it’s a testament to the power of determination, inclusivity, and the human spirit. With the support of three dedicated board members and an unwavering commitment to their cause, they continue to push beyond limits and inspire others to do the same.

As we eagerly await Kona 2024, let us celebrate the Pease brothers’ remarkable achievements and join them in their mission to create a world where opportunities know no boundaries. The Kyle Pease Foundation’s dedication to inclusivity through sports is a shining example of what can be achieved when passion meets purpose. Together, we can help make their vision a reality and leave a legacy of empowerment for generations to come.
