Why This Sunday Matters for the Hemp Industry and How You Can Help

This Sunday, something important is happening in Washington that could directly impact the future of the hemp industry.

The House and Senate will be discussing legislation that could delay the implementation of the hemp ban language quietly passed in November as part of the Agriculture Appropriations bill. For many people, this might sound like just another policy update. For those of us working in hemp, wellness, agriculture, retail, and manufacturing, it is anything but.

This is personal.

These changes were not accompanied by clear guidance or reasonable timelines. Overnight, compliant businesses found themselves unsure whether their products, operations, and investments would still be viable. Farmers, retailers, employees, and supply chain partners were left in limbo.

There is now an opportunity to slow things down and do this the right way.

Two identical bills are being considered:

  • HR 7024, the Hemp Planting Predictability Act
  • S 3686, a bill that would delay implementation of the hemp production changes made to the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946

These bills do not eliminate regulation. They do not weaken oversight. They simply delay implementation so lawmakers, regulators, and the industry can work together with clarity and intention instead of chaos.

Lawmakers need to hear from real people, not just lobbyists.

Let’s speak up while we still can.
